I don't have a lot to say about this one, but it was good!

Spoilers:

- MeFites brought up that there were several nods to DS9's "Future Tense" in this episode's vision of 2024 Los Angeles -- a sign designating the tent city a "Sanctuary" zone and the ICE agent's demand for a UHC card or chip (I was like, "United Health Care...????"), which is cool, even if in terms of visuals and vibes it feels much more like contemporary 2022. I'm not really expecting fealty to something that was written in the 1990s, I think that would be a bit much -- science fiction is always about the here-and-now -- but it's nice that they even made the effort.

- Allison Pill did a great job during that scene where she interfaces with the Borg Queen. My gf called Agnes becoming the new Borg Queen (whose face, in 2x01, is completely covered) in ep 1 and I think she was on the money.

- Rios is very, very handsome. Tween me would have been all about seeing him as a stranded time traveler getting patched up by a gorgeous do-gooding doctor.

- In terms of Q and this season...

Spoilers for John de Lancie's interview with Wil Wheaton on The Ready Room:

- So JdL said in the interview that he had assumed there would be a lot of Q and Picard but that Q instead seemed to be "more of a catalyst". Which says to me that instead of getting one big episode filled with Q, like what we got basically once a season on TNG and a few times on VOY, instead we'll get little sprinkles of Q throughout the season (and possibly S3?). Which is a bummer for me, as a huge fan of the character... it's that character that got me onto the internet and into fandom way back in the day! I was never the same, all due to that character. So I would really love a "Tapestry"-esque episode with him and Picard, but I probably should not hope for one.

/end of Ready Room spoilers

- Raffi and Seven were so adorable. I'm intrigued by... whatever it is that's going on with Seven. She touched her face again, where her Borg implant used to be, and then mentioned how no one ever likes her right away. Maybe this is about her getting used to being a version of herself that was never Borg, never inspired fear or weird looks, never had to re-learn how to be human?

- Poor Elnor. I assume we'll get him back? Probably? It doesn't really make sense, but... why not?

- It was a lot easier for these PIC characters to find suitable 21st century civilian clothes just lying around, sans replicators, than it would've been for the TNG and VOY people with no replicator. Can you fucking imagine them walking around in those skin-tight neon onesies? Jesus wept. Now I kind of wanna see it.

Anyway, I am really intrigued to see where the season goes from here.

I agree with your gf re: Agnes and 2x05 made me more convinced that this is where they're going with that!
