Just gonna copy & paste my tweets because that is probably the only way to get me to make a full post these days because I'm lazy as fuck. Sigh. Dreamwidth, I wanted to post to you more! My laziness! Is all! Consuming!

And yeah, I know it's gross that I'm using Twitter more now that Elon has completely ruined it. Idk, somehow my For You tab, which I always shunned, is super relevant to keeping me engaged. I keep seeing other people say theirs has become a wasteland of pornbots and Verified dipshits, but mine is just like, news on trans rights, political discourse that's RTMI, and sometimes fandom discourse that's also RTMI. I'm sorry, world. I know. I know.

The following is edited from the tweets in which they first appeared:

The reasons that PIC didn't work at times for me are not the reasons I've seen from a few fans in various places, i.e., it has nothing to do with me wishing they'd done better by the new/new-ish castmates from S1&2, I think it's just that things I handwave because either I watched it as a teen or rewatched it as "an old show from the '90s" are harder for me to handwave as a modern show I'm watching currently; plus initially I just simply wasn't interested in Picard having a son.

That said, while it didn't work for me 100% and there were things where I was like, "What? Why? lol?", I basically enjoyed myself, also STINGER SCENE HALF-PANDERING TO ME YAY. YAYYYY Q IS NOT DEAD (or, well, he is dead but he also can traverse space and time in its entirety so OF COURSE HE CAN BE ALIVE EARLIER IN THE TIMELINE YAY YAY YAY YAY)!!! YAYYYYYY!

I don't ship Q/Jack because I ship Picard/Q but I wonder how many people In A Certain Internet Area are desperately horny right now.

also Jack reminds me a lot of Mark Lindsay Chapman aka the guy played Arcane on Swamp Thing

(Btwm re: S1&2 cast, don't get me wrong, would love to see Rios, Elnor and Jurati/JuratiBorg again. Rios, 🔥🔥🔥.)

Not sure how I felt about the Borg Queen's ultimate reasoning and plan. Also, they were all just... starving? She's like.. a skeleton? I felt bad for her. Wondering if there is weird sexism lurking subtextually in this season, not sure.

I'd also be happy to watch Star Trek: The Next NEXT Generation, which they were obviously setting up quite desperately. I'm down.

I did enjoy quite a bit of PIC. It definitely felt... not written by the TNG writers (which makes sense). Worf sort of felt a touch more like... Michael Dorn Enjoying Playing Worf & The Writers Enjoying Writing Worf than Worf. But he was also so much fun. (And looked amazing.)

And a lot of the humor felt sort of more... like sometimes it felt like TNG as filtered through the TOS movies? But there's a charm to that.

I also don't envy the writers trying to write a finale in the shadow of "All Good Things... Part 2" which might be... one of the most satisfying finales... of an episode of television... ever? When a series finale, just in and of itself, that is both good and emotionally satisfying is ... an incredibly difficult feat in and of itself and rarely achieved? I think this one was... it was fine. It was enjoyable. Also, the Borg armor on Jack... oddly attractive?

Jack being Special Aide is ... very Marty-Stu-y but there's also something kind of cool about a dude sitting in the Deanna Troi chair having a vaguely-defined role?

Also, it would be very very very cool to have a Trek show led by two women in their mid-50s? One of whom is a WOC? Both characters being ex-lovers? That would be fucking awesome?

Oh, also. How cool was it, when they gave us the D hehehehehehehe that we got to see A BRIDGE THAT WAS BRIGHTLY LIT? Back when VOY gave us the Mood Lighting Bridge it was cool at first, then each bridge got consecutively darker through the movies and I was like "please god stop".

Also also, it was kind of weird that Seven -- okay, I have LOVED the way they showed Seven's evolution from VOY to PIC in PIC s1&2 and totally bought it but in S3, it was weird to have her 1) provide zero counsel/advice on the Borg (????????) and 2) have an exchange where Shaw is like, "Why don't you do what's good for the Collective Starfleet" and she's like, "I FOLLOW MY GUT!!!!" and I'm just like, "is there? any? understanding? that she used? to be Borg?"

But I would watch a Seven show, I would love it.

Anyway, what did y'all think of it?
